The Mission and Purpose of AWCC

AWCC’s mission is to provide a safe haven for Alaska’s wildlife, while also promoting conservation and education. The center’s purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured and orphaned animals back into their natural habitats. By doing so, AWCC aims to contribute to the conservation of Alaska’s unique and diverse wildlife.

The Types of Animals at AWCC

AWCC takes in a wide range of animals, including:

  • Mammals: bears, moose, caribou, wolves, and mountain goats
  • Birds: eagles, hawks, owls, and waterfowl
  • Reptiles and Amphibians: snakes, turtles, and frogs
  • Fish: salmon and trout
  • These animals are brought to the center for various reasons, such as:

  • Injuries sustained during the wild
  • Orphaned or abandoned by their mothers
  • Captured by humans for various reasons
  • The Care and Rehabilitation Process

    AWCC’s experienced staff and volunteers provide top-notch care and rehabilitation to the animals. This includes:

  • Providing a safe and comfortable environment
  • Administering medical treatment and medication
  • Feeding and nutrition planning
  • Socialization and enrichment activities
  • The care and rehabilitation process is tailored to each animal’s specific needs, taking into account their age, species, and health status.
